State Street Cowl

My BFF doesn't sew or knit or play with anything stitchy, but she certainly knows how to appreciate something stitchy that is made for her!  Let's face it she received her wedding quilt on her fourth wedding anniversary and she still loves it all these years later.

Her birthday is in June and last year I had only been knitting a few months and when I thought of knitting something for her it was only a few weeks beforehand and even I recognised I'd be pushing my new found abilities just a tad too far.  So this year I'm getting in early!

The pattern is the State Street Cowl by Pam Allen and it's super super easy and super super quick.  It's bulky yarn and half knit with size 13/9mm and half with size 15/10mm needles.

The yarn is the new Purl Soho Super Soft Merino in Charcoal.  It's lovely yarn, not cheap - nearly $60 excluding postage for this cowl but worth it.

Christmas knitting in Australia doesn't really work given it's Summer so a June birthday is perfect!  I did want to take a photo wearing it with a jacket looking nice and cozy.  It was high 30's outside so it was a very quick photography session!

Don't worry - I don't think she reads my blog and even if she does I know she'll enjoy the few months of anticipation.  I'll definitely be knitting one of these for myself - currently undecided between the Peacock Blue or the Oyster Gray...

Ravelled here.
